On September 29, 2016, Google introduced a new name that better reflects this mission: G Suite. Currently, if you sign up for G Suite Basic or Business, this version does not insert any small ads in the mailbox view. As such, Google charges $30 per year for each user for an annual plan to use the service, a relatively high cost with small and medium enterprises.

If you use Google Apps which signed up before December 6, 2012, you can continue your service for free, without any change in service. The fact that we discontinued the Free edition for new customers has no effect on existing customers of the Free service.
And the best part is that you can add your own domain name and change the primary domain for existing accounts, and start using the Google Apps Email service without any recurring charges. Imagine a company with 50 users, you will have to pay 120$ per year, but compared to the free version you only have to pay a one-time fee of 70$.
